How to Put a Greater Than or Equal to Sign in a Word Document

Philosophers of mathematics know that most equations aren’t as simple as “one plus one equals two.” You can add a greater than or equal to sign to a Microsoft Word document by pressing the Equal or Greater Than keyboard keys. You can also add these characters as equations. For everything to make sense, you need to look at some of Word’s back-end features.

Step 1

Open Word 2013 and the document you want to work on to add the symbols. Click “File,” then click the “Info” link, and then click “Convert.” When the warning window pops up, click “OK.” If your document was made with Word 2013, you can skip this step.

Step 2

Scroll to the equation and click it to turn on the purple Equation Tools tab and ribbon. Note that this tab and ribbon won’t show up if you don’t have a Word 2013 equation and you don’t click on it.

Step 3

Click the “Design” tab and use the scroll bar to look through the symbols.

Step 4

Place the cursor where the equal to or greater than sign should go. These can be found in the section on basic math.

Step 5

To add each symbol to your equation, click once on each one.
