How to Install Netflix to Your TV

You can watch movies and TV shows from Netflix directly on your TV. You only need a TV that can connect to the Internet to watch hundreds of high-quality movies and TV shows that are added to regularly.

Netflix also lets you stream on gaming consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, and Wii. When using the TV’s split screen, it can be helpful to have gaming options in addition to the ones that come with the TV. You could watch two movies at the same time, or you could play a game and watch a movie. Setting up a Netflix account is quick and easy.

Step 1

You can use an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi to hook up your TV to the Internet. If you choose to use Ethernet, plug the cable from the TV’s Ethernet port into the Ethernet jack on the wall. If you’re using Wi-Fi, make sure that the TV’s system setup page can read your network settings.

Step 2

Follow the instructions in your user’s manual to set up your TV so it can get Internet shows. Note that the way to set up a TV may be different for each model. Depending on the brand and model of your TV, this step may or may not be necessary.

Step 3

You can use your TV’s menu. This will show you what kinds of Internet programs are out there. Use your remote to highlight the Netflix app. To start the Netflix app, press the “Enter/Select” button on your remote. Press “Enter” on your remote to agree to the “Terms of Agreement” and get to the Netflix registration screen. You’ll be asked if you already belong to Netflix. If so, press “Enter” on your remote and choose “Yes.” A code to use will show up on the screen.

Step 4

Go to and sign in to your account there. Go to where it says “Activate a device,” and choose your TV from the list. A big empty box will show up. In the box, type in your 4-digit activation code and click “Activate.”

Step 5

Press the TV’s “Menu” button to get back to the Netflix app. You can use your remote to press “Enter/Select.” There will be a list of movies and TV shows on the Netflix home screen.
